2. Shape:
Longitudinal twisting, Bellying and lopsidedness are inadmissible.
3. Surface Condition:
Billets must be free from harmful defects such as cracks, Laminations and roughness fines, jagged surface, Flaws, teeming laps, seal shells and slivers.
4. End cut:
Type of end cut is up to the producer, however ends of the billet should be free from any deformation (e.g. curving out of square), remains of shrinkage cavity as well as free from slashes in case of hot saw cutting.
5. Packing and marking:
Billets should be supplied in bundles of about 2 to 4 MT per bundle and should be securely tied at three places with suitable wire or rope .A label on each bundle should be bonded showing the number of cast, grade and name of the producer or supplier.
